Mountain Biking

The Portes de Soleil area is well known on the world circuit and is the No 1 Alpine destination for bike lovers. Whether you want to test your nerve on the famous downhill courses, or take a leisurely ride through the trees, there is something for everyone. The ski lifts are open through the summer months and equipped to carry both you and your bike uphill, saving you some of the hard work!

Road Biking

Morzine is heaven for road bikers. This is because there are limitless options for whatever you enjoy. From varied circuits, epic climbs and lakeside tours to tackling some of the most famous Tour de France routes like the Col de Joux Plain. The opportunities are fantastic and you can build the perfect week long mix of riding and relaxation.

Parapente

Experience a bird’s eye view of the Alps on a tandem parapente flight. With a qualified instructor in control, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you ride the thermals and soar high over the mountains. For those wanting to go solo, ‘learn to parapente’ courses are available.

Golf

Morzine is a great base from which to enjoy golf in the mountains. The neighbouring villages of Les Gets and Avoriaz offer fantastic 18 hole and 9 hole courses respectively. Slightly further away, but within an easy drive from Morzine, you will find courses in Chamonix, Megève, Flaine, Annecy, and the world famous Championship course at the Royal Club of Evian on the banks of Lake Geneva.

Rafting and Hydrospeed

Take an exhilarating ride down the white waters of La Dranse. Equipped with a wetsuit and life vest, you can enjoy the thrills of the alpine rapids in an 8-man inflatable raft with a guide, a 2 man kayak-raft, or solo, on a giant foam “hydrospeed”. Seriously good fun and very exciting.

Canyoning

Abseil down waterfalls, jump into deep rock pools and ride natural water slides. Canyoning is an exhilarating and unforgettable way to experience the amazing mountain waterways. Aqua trekking is an alternative for those wanting to swim, jump and wade along the riverbed without harnesses.

Via Ferrata

Equipped with a helmet and safety harness attached to permanent iron rails, you can chose your route according to ability and climb the rock face of Avoriaz using the fixed hand rails, ladders and bridges of the Via Ferrata. At the summit the views over Avoriaz are amazing.

Climbing

There are some superb mountain crags in close proximity to Morzine. The closest, in St Jean D’Aulps, offers a variety of multi pitch routes, easy access and south facing rock. Le Biot, has some fantastic routes ranging in difficulty from 5 to 8B. Beginners are also well catered for, with lessons available on the man-made wall in the Palais Des Sports, in addition to the natural rock faces.

Indiana Park

There is fun for all the family at the Indiana ’Ventures park. Use the rope slides, ladders and swings to go “Tarzan-style” from tree to tree through this assault course set in Morzine’s Dereche forest.

Other sports

Morzine also offers many other activities within a short walk of the chalet: an Olympic size open air pool with water park slides, ice rink, summer “luge” track, mini golf, horse riding, tennis courts, skate parks, in addition to endless beautiful walks.

Heritage / tradition

Why not explore some of the local history and traditional crafts during your stay? Take a guided tour of the old town, a visit to the cheese dairy or a tour of the slate workshop and discover how the town has developed over the centuries.

Spa

If all this exertion is just a bit too much and you would like to relax, why not pamper yourself? Sauna, jacuzzi, massage and range of spa treatments are available for those in search of a more relaxing break.
